All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten
by Robert Fulghum
Most of what I really need to know about how to live
and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain,
but there in the sand pile at Sunday school. These are the things I learned:
Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life—learn some and think some and
draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic,
hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.

Language artsLetter Identification and Sound Production for: Ss "Memory Words" are words that need to be read quickly from memory: a is Reading Book handling, identifying parts of a book, characters, setting, the jobs of an author and illustrator, name recognition (our own and our classmates) and reading and writing both the white blendable (jolly) words and green sight (tricky) words from the Kindergarten Word Bag. Writing The children are working on writing their first name using only 1 capital letter in the beginning and lowercase letters for the rest. We are using invented spelling to write in our journals and in our class-made books. This is when the students write the sounds that they hear in a word. For example, the word turtle may be written as trtl. The students will become aware that there needs to be spaces between words, a sentence should start with a capital letter and punctuation at the end of a sentence. Penmanship Pencil grip (pinch writing utensil between thumb and pointer finger, then lay it on the "pillow" of the middle finger. news you can useOur Kindergarten Class has 16 students "Every day your child will bring something home from Kindergarten….
sometimes it is in their head, sometimes it is in their hands and sometimes it is in their heart. " BirthdaysChildren are invited to celebrate their birthday at school by visiting the principal’s office for a special birthday book. In addition, students are permitted to bring in a NON-EDIBLE treat to share with every member of his or her class. This could be a book or game donated to the classroom, or it might be a small non-food token to pass out to each child. If you plan to hand out personal invitations to classmates at school, we prefer that this takes place off of school grounds or by mail. However, we do allow students to hand out invitations to their classmates at the end of the school day as long as EVERY child of the same gender (or every boy or every girl) in the classroom receives an invitation. The school will not provide addresses for invitations, nor will we permit students to pass out invitations if these guidelines are not followed. *We sing many songs to reinforce concepts and skills that you may also enjoy at home and can be found on YOUTUBE: *Harry Kindergarten: "If You're a Kid", "Numbers in the Teens", "Counting Superhero", "Climbing Up the Mountain", "When you add with a Pirate" *Number Rock by Greg and Steve *Pop See Ko by Go Noodle *Jolly Phonics songs *Color word Songs *GoNoodle is an excellent, free resource!
